Check out what the window display looks like. The mannequin is wearing specific clothes for a reason, because it looks good. Try on what it’s wearing. If it’s not a good fit, don’t get it or get it tailored. You don’t need to break the bank and if you are tight on cash hit the thrift shop and invite a female friend along for some fashion advice. It doesn’t have to be mega expensive to get a few pieces, but make sure you try things on.

4. Invest in shoes

A woman can notice cheap shoes from a mile away. A good pair of shoes can make a not-so-great getup look even better. Jeans, a t-shirt and great shoes? Priceless. Get a pair you can wear with anything and everything. Think simple and classic.

5. Get a haircut
